Supermarket Mishap

This morning Gemma and I were at the grocery store. They just got a bunch of car carts and she was inside driving and honking. A few minutes later I heard her say, Look at me Mommy, I'm driving. I absentmindedly said wow, you are a big girl. Just as I got this out of my mouth I looked next to me and there was an adult small person (not sure of the politically correct word here) glaring at me. I just stood there stunned as I realized she thought I was talking to her. I don't think she even noticed Gem sitting in the "car". So I just smiled very politely and kept telling Gemma what a good driver she was and walked away. How embarrassing.

Super Bunny

Gemma is such a character. She is always pretending to be a cat, a frog, a dog etc. The other day she asked me where her cugga was. I told her that I didn't know. Her response? "Don't worry Mommy, Super Bunny can find it!" Next thing I knew she had her Dora blanket and asked me to tie it around her neck like a cape. I did as requested and she was off shouting, Supper Bunny to the rescue! A few minutes later here she came with her Cugga in tow. Or should I say Super Bunny came back with her cugga!

Love is Blind

Daddy brought a Wii back home from North Carolina. We have been having tons of fun with it and I'm loving the Wii Fit portion. Yesterday the girls and I were making some Mii's. Maya wanted to make an Oba and an Oji. So we were picking the faces, eyes etc. I chose some wrinkles and Maya said, Mommy what are you doing? Oba and Oji don't have wrinkles!

That's My Maya

Today I was watching Maya out of the corner of my eye wondering what she was doing. She picked up several things from around the house and put them on an end table. She then told me she was opening a store and asked me if I wanted to come and buy something. I said sure and walked over. She looked me up and down and asked me where my money was. I held out my empty hand and said, here it is. She looked at me with a Mom, you are such and idiot look and said (quite snotty I might add), I only take Qatari Riyal. I gave the items on the table a good look over to see if I really wanted to buy any of it. Come to find out, it was all my stuff! Well, better end this post, I have to go find some cash so I can buy back my 5 gallon bottle of water that was just delivered to Maya's store.

OIQ

We used to have a saying on Guam, OOG (Only on Guam). Guam had a way of frustrating even the most patient person. So, I was driving down a fairly major street in Doha yesterday and came face to face with this.

As I shook my head the only thing that came to mind was Only In Qatar. For those of you not accustomed to seeing things like this, Yes, that is a camel.

Makeup?

These pictures remind me of the book, Olivia forms a Band. In it they are leaving for the fireworks and Olivia's Mom tells her to get ready. Olivia says, Just a minute I need to put on my makeup. Olivas Mom stands there for a minute and says, Makeup? Then there is this wonderful picture of Olivia in full red lipstick. Gatta love little girls in makeup.

So that is what that drain is for...

We have been inside for quite a while. Temp got up to 118 again today. Miserable! So I'm looking and looking for things to do with the kids inside. I got a sand and water table but they didn't have any sand today so I figured we could just do it in the kitchen sans sand. After all there is a drain in the floor. What else could that possibly be for? I think by the time we were done (2 hours later) there was about 5 gallons of water on the floor apparently the drain isn't in the lowest part of the floor. I'm starting to think this is not what that drain is for. But I had some happy kids. Worth the mess? You bet.
